Favor

“But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”- Genesis 39:21 NKJV

I thank God for favor. I was reading my Joyce Meyer Daily Devotional (a new fav) and I was amazed at the way she broke it down. She said favor was something that is available to all but not everyone has enough faith to access it. And there lies the problem: not enough faith. Sometimes I wonder how we as Christians get by when we don’t believe that Good can deliver us out of the littlest situations. I remember when I was praying on Saturday at the concert; God told me that he made this world just by saying it. My situation was nothing for Him. And that’s what we need to remind ourselves, this situation is easy for God; we have to believe that He can do it and ask Him to bestow His favor on us in the midst. Be blessed.

Why Did You Doubt?

I don’t know if I told you guys before, but when I did my Daniel fast we would have prayer sessions after service on Sundays. LOL, I think its funny looking back because I never pegged myself as a prayer warrior but to have someone ask you to pray on their behalf is an honor. Any who, back to the story: Our former Youth President was asked to pray over us that day. I will always remember his prayer. He prayed that I would be a Peter. I remember not fully understanding why throughout the prayer he compared me to him but I asked God to reveal the purpose of it. So fast forward to today; I was reading my copy of Our Daily Bread and the scripture verse was the story of Peter and Jesus walking on water. I stopped literally on Matthew 14:31 (Amplified Bible) “Instantly Jesus reached out His hand and caught and held him, saying to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” I have to say that verse was talking to me. I know what God can do, especially what He can do in my life. I am always the one who wants to jump out of the ship and meet Him even in the craziest circumstances but when I look around that’s when I doubt. If we just keep our eyes on Him in the midst on the winds and currents we can walk right up to Him. He won’t let us sink, so why are we full of doubt?

The Calm Before the Storm

So I know I haven’t discussed the relationship aspect of my life because it just seems way too complicated. I mean, some things take time to explain; especially this. But it seems like everyday I will hear and learn something new about the new couple: Let’s just call them “Maddy and Richard”. I pray that God will strengthen me in this situation, it feels like a test of my faith and I know that whatever God promises me will be mine. I also pray for them. That if this is of God, they follow God and lift Him up in this relationship.

I'm Going to Be Honest

The Lord has been dealing with me about a certain area of my life where I can truly say I lack faith in: my love life. I will be brutally honest with you: I have made many mistakes in my past and I don’t feel I should be given anything for it. I mean, I know who God has for me but it feels like I would be more of a hindrance to him that a helpmate. And I realize that thinking is preventing me from moving towards what’s mine. When God told Abraham he would be a Father of many nations and he was extremely old did Abraham say “no God, there seems to be some kind of error”? No. He believed; he didn’t question God or try to figure out God’s plan he just let go and let God. These days we seem to forget that God is still the God that can move mountains, part seas, heal you just on your faith alone. So why do we limit Him to what we can do? God is so much bigger than us, so let us not put Him in a box or try to figure out what His next move is or how we’re getting to our “promise land”.

Inquiring Minds Want to Know

As a Children's Church teacher I have learned that children aren't like adults in many ways. They want to know: Who? What? When? How? and always Why? This was especially true last week in class. I was teaching them about Jesus Private Ministry (Baptism, 40 Day & Night Fast, His Temptation) and every 5 minutes I was asked questions that broke into a series of discussions. Mind you we teach 2-12 year olds but their minds were as sponges; eager to take in as much information as possible. The lesson was supposed to last 30 minutes tops; but with all the children shooting question after question, the lesson ran until service was done. I often tell myself that I want a mind like a child; where I believe in God's word and there's no room for doubt. Where I am so hungry to learn more and more about Him that I am constantly reading His word. I have this one child in class who reminds me of myself when I was younger. He came up to me and told me he was prayed for and anointed. He was so excited! He said he felt like he could do anything! Remember when we were like that? When we were so gung ho and on fire for Christ that we would do any and everything possible just to do something for the kingdom of God? When we quoted God's promises, believed it without a trace of doubt; if God said it then it was so? We are constantly at war with our minds between what can be so easily achieved with a "child-like faith". I think if we just take on the simple mind frame as a child and ask & answer those questions we will feel a lot better. Who: me. What: the situation at hand. When: right now. Why: It's just another way God can show me who He is in my life. How: He will solve any problem if I put my trust in Him. All it takes is faith as small as a mustard seed.
