UP TO THE NECK: The Maxi Scarf Factor

Brrr! Winter’s here and so are some wonderful knit worked creations, ready to keep us safe from the windy commotion. The beauty of knitted complexity has been in designers’ minds for a while now when it comes to frosty thoughts.
Spectacular maxi scarves have taken over the spotlight, adding some soft voluminous hints and shades to the female wardrobe. For instance, Custo Barcelona and Sita Murt chose amazingly mild tones of gorgeous colors, along with a soft looking complexion, convincing us to focus on the face and the importance of the make-up choices women make.
Coldness gets tougher, and so does this shielding essential, providing us some sort of tender balance between wool and a pleasant sense of dimension. Yielding ideas break through simple shapes concepts, as we reach for padded heaven.
In contrast to some furry neckwear pieces that also appeared this season, the knitted scarf’s adaptability seems perfectly subtle and easily wearable. It looks like we won’t be turning our backs on this excellent and magnified item anytime soon.

TREND REPORT: To be or not to be Preppy

"Preppy, preppie, or prep (all abbreviations of the word preparatory) refers to a modern, widespread United States clique, sometimes considered a youth subculture."
This season there's a boyish yet sophisticated vibe in the air. DSquared's fashion show translates it in a chic-intellectual way, while in DKNY's some outfits had a mix of feminity and professionality. Phillip Lim made sure of giving us hints of preppy through the color pallete, hair and make up.
Seems we've got some homework to do this SS2011!

TREND REPORT: Lady Like

So chic, so gorgeous!
Designers went all the way back to the forties & fifties to bring back cat eye sunglasses, gloves, skirts and magnificwaists. If you want to look like a woman, belts seem to do the trick.
When it comes to hair though, there's more of a sixties vibe. Add some soft make up to go with it, and you'll feel fresh and feminine.
Don't be afraid to shine, this fall season the street is our runway.
---
Tan chic, tan hermoso!

TREND REPORT: Over and Over

'We play, we dress, we create'. This seems to be the statement on the runway.
From jackets, to scarfs, teaming up with vests and gloves, this winter's breeze brings us layering once again.
Jean Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyake and Kenzo have found the stairway to layering heaven, adding some color to the game.
The rules are simple: stay focus, wrap yourself up.
You'll be warm... you'll be stylish.
---
"Jugamos, vestimos, creamos".
No tendrás frío... y te verás increíble.

TREND REPORT: Fur Yourself

Brrr is cold in here! And fur is here to stay. It's pretty clear that this winter we're gonna fur ourselves all over, but with a twist.
Designers like Burberry, Jay Mandel and Thakoon have set themselves to accomplish versatility, and they've done it. We can see it in vests, jackets, hoodies, and in winter's new bff, the russian fur hat.
For a modern yet down to earth look, add some straight long hair, natural make up, and that's it.
Girls, let's flaunt that fur!
---
Chicas, a lucir esas pieles!

TREND REPORT: Little House on the Prairie

It's time to feel pretty. The runway gets embellished with floral prints, soft fabrics, and braided updos.
Suddenly, models become princesses, and to some designers, they become Heidi.
Oscar de la Renta plays with layers and Vivienne Westwood's Red Label invites handkerchiefs and hats to be part of the story.
I can almost heart it... 'the hills are alive with the sound of music'...

Casi puedo oirlo...."the hills are alive with the sound of music"...

TREND REPORT: Pure Coincidence

Is it possible that white is here to stay? Well, that's what it seems, at least for this summer.
Smart suits and clean lines, along with an effortless make-up, reassure the image of a professional woman, with a fresh attitude.
Best interpretations: Yves Saint Laurent and Jil Sander, whose collections are so white and so wearable, you'll feel blind-sighted.
Oh White! Always casual, always neat.

---
Blanco! Siempre casual, siempre prolijo.

TREND REPORT: Pattern Matching

Just like a coloring book. There're enough colors to light up the entire city this summer.
The mix of patters makes sure you pay close attention to what's happening on the runway.
Marc Jacobs brings us a reminiscence of a madonesque look, reloaded, colorful, and with big bows. While Balenciaga focuses on lines shutting down pattern traffic.
A lot of fun, with and edge, and for those who feel like playing dress up.

TREND REPORT: I'm ethereal

"I'm ethereal". This seems to be the affirmation that some of the designers are imposing this season, along with delicate details, striking waists and traslucent fabrics.
The most illusional collections are the ones of Isaac Mizrahi, Dior, and Nina Ricci, who takes advantage of the frills and everyday shapes.
Ladies and gentlemen, i give you: "Femenity's under my skin".

---

TREND REPORT: Sir, yes sir

A soldier's nostalgia and a reassertion of character , these are the possible interpretations once you go through the collections of Charlotte Ronson, Balmain and Burberry.
On the other hand, Galliano's vision plays with textures and military dramatization.
In the streets, the trend reflects itself in jackets, shorts, or just crossed over backpacks.
Without a doubt, this trend, in comparison with the others, works the runway with a hard attitude and decisiveness.
It's better not to disobey orders.

---
