Sushmita Sen With Daughters Renee and Alisah Meets The Dalai Lama
Former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen visited the Dalai Lama at McLeodganj on March 28 2011. Sushmita Sen was accompanied by her daughters Renee and Alisah. Private secretary of the Dalai Lama told newspersons that Sushmita Sen had just come to seek his blessings. She was presented with Khata, a traditional white scarf, by the Dalai Lama. Sushmita Sen, who is on a private visit to Dharamsala, arrived here last evening. She is putting up at Asia Health Resorts in the Stoberry area of Dharamsala.

Sushmita Sen Celebrates Durga Puja With Her Daughters Renee and Alisah
Recently, Sushmita Sen made sure that she brought both her daughters, Renee and Alisah to celebrate Durga Puja.
The 34-year-old actress spent Durga Puja with her kids as she wanted them to know more about Bengali culture.

A Look at Sushmita Sen's Second Baby Daughter Alicia

Sushmita Sen who had adopted a three-month-old baby girl last December, finished legal formalities for her second baby, Alicia Sen, fulfilling her long cherished desire of adopting another girl child. She told reporters that 'From this moment on Alicia is officially Alicia Sen and she is my daughter.' Ten years ago, she had defied the odds when she adopted Renee.
The Bombay High Court on Wednesday, Jan 13, allowed her the custody of Alicia/Alisah, a 5-month-old baby. The girl was with Sush since December but has now officially become her daughter due to requirement of court’s permission. Now a mother again, Sush is extremely happy to bring a new member to her family. “It’s is a big day for me. Today Alicia is officially mine,” she is quoted as saying.
Sush adopted her first girl child Renee as per Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act in the year 2000. But the act forbids her to adopt a second child of the same gender. Sush always wanted to adopt another girl child after Renee, but because of the law, she couldn’t. To her relief, a law passed last year allowed a person to adopt a second child of the same sex under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Born on August 28, 2009, the baby was surrendered few days later by her unmarried mother to Child Welfare Committee. Alisha, who’s been with Sen since December, was earlier just her ward. However, the legal adoption process has been completed now and the almost six-month-old is now officially Sen’s daughter.
When asked how Renee feels about her younger sister, Sushmita reveals that her oldest daughter takes on her role as the big sister rather seriously. She volunteers to change her sister’s diapers and even attempts to give her baby sister a bath.Sushmita also reveals that despite being happy and content with her life, she still looks forward to getting married someday. Her daughters will definitely be the bridesmaids at her wedding.

Renee is a special child...
"Renee understands her mother has to work. We share quality time together. The good thing is that I don't make her claustrophobic - I believe to be a good mother, you don't need to be hovering around your child round-the-clock. There will soon come a time that your child will start hoping you were not around. I want my child to be happy when she sees me come back home, and Renee is thrilled to have me home. Being close to my daughter physically and emotionally is most important to me."
On Mother's Day ...
"Once Renne made a lovely card for me with 'Renee' signed at the bottom.The card had stars, moons skies and all complicated things beautifully drawn on it. Her masi got this beautiful heart shaped pendant with Allah written on it and space for two small pictures. I am so blessed that she understood the concept so beautifully."
When I am with Renee...
"When we are together, we spend time making figures and cartoons of clay, narrate stories or watch video films that we've shot together. She loves repeating her set of favourite stories and poems. Of late, she's also developed a knack for opposites -ask her what's the opposite of flamboyant or biological, and she'll rattle it off in a jiffy."
Renee loves watching films...
"She watches television like any other child; she loves the songs and the promos they keep airing. She keenly watches the steps, time and again, and loves telling me all about it."
Renee, my best critic...
"She's bursting with excitement on seeing me on television. She gathers everyone in the household, all the domestic helpers and anyone else she finds around when she spots me on the television. And when the promo or the song they are showing is over, she screams for more. She wonders why I come and go and can't stay on the screen throughout. "My mamma, my mamma", she goes on and on! If she is too insistent, I have to play a tape of my movie for her to sit and enjoy. Renee is my biggest fan."

Sushmita Sen Walked the Ramp During Renee's School's Annual Celebrations
Like Mother like daughterSushmita Sen is willing to go the extra mile when it comes to her daughter Renee. So mom and daughter walked the ramp during Renee's school Beacon High's annual celebrations held over the weekend.
For the past couple of years we have had fashion shows for the annual prize distribution ceremony. Prahlad Kakkar walked the ramp until last year as his son was studying in the school. Sushmita knows how to interact with the crowds and get them going. We had a great time and the school generated money which was the main motive,” says a parent.
Sources from the school say that Sushmita is very much a part of daughter Renee's schooling. “She attends all meetings and knows exactly what is happening in her daughter's life,” says a teacher from the school.
