Aarav Wants to Be a Drummer, Parents Akshay & Twinkle Present Him a Set of Drums For His Eighth Birthday
Akshay Kumar and wife Tina (Twinkle Khanna) had a grand birthday bash for their son Aarav's eighth birthday, on September 15, at a friend's hotel. They even bought him a set of drums as Aarav wants to be a drummer and have his own band when he grows up.
Says a source close to the family, "It's a known fact that Akshay never works on Aarav's birthday and makes sure all his appointments and shoots are scheduled for other days.
Akki and Tina plan out Aarav's birthday party to the minutest detail. On Wednesday, he organised a special pool party for Aarav at his friend's hotel in the suburbs."
Junior received a special gift from his folks. "Aarav loves music and wants to have his own band when he grows up.
He wants to be a drummer. He plays very well for a child, so Akshay and Twinkle decided to gift him a top-of-the-line drum set this year," adds the source
The source continues, "Akshay and Twinkle always encourage Aarav to follow his heart and do what he feels.
They don't feel they should choose his profession for him. If Aarav really wants to form a rock band, his parents will support him in any way they can."

Aarav Bhatia Awarded for 'Extraordinary Contribution by a Child'
On Friday (5th February) evening, Akshay Kumar's son Aarav was awarded for 'Extraordinary Contribution by a Child'. The event took place at Delhi Sustainable Development Summit at the Taj Palace, New Delhi, where the 9 year old kid was awarded at the second edition of the Green Global Foundation Awards. As it turned out, Aarav held stage with some of the eminent dignitaries belonging to different spheres of life and occupying some of the highest positions in the corporate, political and environmental world. Each of them had a story to tell which led them to environment protection and Aarav had his own story to tell.
"These human beings are very bad. They are cutting trees'", Aarav remembers stating soon after seeing Avatar. Narrating the incident that impacted him, the young boy made this statement in response to the destruction, mainly pertaining to environment, which was on display in the James Cameron film which is now the biggest money spinner ever in the history of world cinema.
While majority of cine enthusiasts, trade experts and 'aam junta', were happy debating the technical marvel and brilliance that Avatar brought with it, Aarav (who could well be amongst thousands of others kids who had a similar thought) picked up the point around environment destruction.
A statement like this makes one think aloud - 'Have today's kids grown up faster than one thought?' In the world of unimaginable gadgets up for exploitation, hundreds of satellite channels, blogs, social networking sites and of course the exposure that kids, especially in urban India, are getting today, are we looking at an age where it would finally be kids, instead of grown up adults, who could well be the saviour of Planet Earth.
Of course this doesn't take away the effort of thousands of professionals with brilliant minds who are working round the clock and across the globe to save the world from dying down. However, the statement from a kid here is something that is not often heard from a common man and this is the reason why it manages to raise a voice that is seldom heard.
As a leading celebrity from the world of Bollywood comments, "People from our age group of 30-40 have more or less as many number of years left for us. May be we won't get harmed by what we are doing to our own world. But then our kids have wised up. They know for sure that if this destruction continues for another 30-40 years, their lives are doomed. And lesser said about the future of the generation that follows after them, the better."
No wonder, it appears that kids and teenagers have taken up the matter in their own hands and are doing whatever little that is possible to create awareness about fighting the menace of global warming. In fact Aarav was recently awarded for 'Excellent Contribution by a Child' for his involvement in the reduction of global warming. Apparently he asked Akshay Kumar to adopt a village that didn't have electricity and persuaded him to supply them with solar lanterns and other energy saving devices.
Not all kids can be expected to be this lucky to boast of a doting father who doesn't just sit on a pot of gold but is also understanding enough to grant a wish like this. On the other hand the very idea about kids of this age having at least a thought in this direction is a good enough reason to celebrate.
Perhaps there may be thousands of other kids like these who do believe in the cause. Perhaps a few hundred of them will eventually come up with a practical solution and get support, both emotionally and monetarily, from their parents as well. Perhaps this would lead to a widespread improvement in the way inhabitants look at Planet Earth. And perhaps then, there would be far better and positive statements being made.

Aarav Akshay Kumar Wins His First Award For Involvement in Reduction of Global Warming at Only Nine Years!
Aarav: At 9, a winner!

It's an award for a 'green' cause, no less!
Pictures from the Event
Akshay Kumar's son Aarav has won an award for his involvement in the reduction of global warming at a tender age.
Mom, dad won't attend
While the actor may have taken over 20 years to get his first award, Aarav has won one at nine. The sad part is that his parents Akshay and Twinkle are both away in Germany for a hydro-therapy course and will be unable to attend. Aarav's grandmother Dimple will accompany him to the event.
The big miss
Normally, the actor wouldn't have missed his son's special moment for the world but Akshay, says the source, "tried to get the dates for his hydro-therapy treatment postponed but one gets the doctor's dates months earlier and there were no dates available after that, so Twinkle and he had to go. However, the actor picked out a suit for his son's big day before leaving for Hamburg."
Adds the source, "Normally, Akshay likes to keep Aarav away from public events but this is the first award his son has won and Akshay is glad it's for such a good cause. Akshay is very emotional that his son has won one at such an early age."
Evening out
Aarav will be awarded at the second edition of the Green Globe Foundation Awards organised by Wizcraft at a ceremony today during the inaugural evening of the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit at the Taj Palace, New Delhi. Aarav's award -- for Extraordinary Contribution by a Child -- is being given by a news channel.
Says a source close to Akshay, "Last year, while watching a TV programme called Greenathon, Aarav had asked his father to adopt a village without electricity and supply them with solar lanterns and other energy-saving devices. Aarav has been taking a personal interest in the village and checks on the stuff himself before it is sent. He saves electricity and water at home. When he saw Avatar with Akshay and saw trees being cut down, he tersely commented, 'These human beings are very bad.' "
Concludes the source, "The jury was impressed by the involvement of Aarav in global warming at such a young age and decided to award him."
What's the Green Globe Foundation Awards?
The Awards have been instituted as a salutation to the efforts of organisations and individuals fighting climate change through their work in environment preservation and regeneration. The winners have been decided by a jury panel of personalities from different walks of life. The panel constitutes, Mr M C Mehta, Mr Kartikeya Sarabhai, Mr Darryl D'Monte, Mr Bittu Sahgal, Ms Ranjana Saikia, Mr Abhijit Sinha and Ms Mili Majumdar. The jury has made their decisions, taking into consideration the innovation, social impact, cost implications and sustainability of the action, involved.

Aarav Will be Ready For Karate Competition By 2010
Karate kid debuts...
... in 2010. Akki's son Aarav will be ready for competition by that time
... in 2010. Akki's son Aarav will be ready for competition by that time

Come 2010 and Akshay Kumar's son Aarav will be a major competitor at the papa's Invitational Open National Karate-do Championship.
The Karate-do championship is the brainchild of Aarav's coach Shihan Mehul Vora, a martial arts practitioner and teacher. He wanted the star beta to participate in the championship this year but the actor denied permission.
Papa Kumar felt that beta Aarav wasn't ready and it would be unethical if he allowed Aarav to compete with people who are more talented and have received training for years. The actor felt that the students taking part have been slogging for years and Akshay didn't want to be accused of favoritism.
Reveals a source, "Now Akki has taken it into his own hands to train Aarav along with Mehul. The training starts in the morning and goes on for a couple of hours. The Khiladi wants Aarav to be qualified enough after training for a year. In fact, Twinkle's bundle of joy has has a bet with his dad that if he wins next year, he will receive a special gift. This time, Aarav will only watch the participants." Akki's boy has been learning karate since he was four. 30,000 students have already registered for the championship this year out of which 1,000 will be shortlisted. They will be Akshay's guests in Mumbai for three days, all expenses paid. Winners will get a medal from a recognised school in Japan.

Akshay Kumar Has Dedicated Animation Film Jumbo to His Son Aarav

The film is about a father’s unconditional love for his son
Akshay Kumar is all set to give his son Aarav a very precious gift. Akki will be dedicating an entire film titled Jumbo, which is produced by Percept Picture Company. Akshay will not only lend his voice to the central character Jumbo but will also be a sutradhar (narrator) in the film.
When contacted, Akshay Kumar confirmed the news and said, "The reason for me doing this animation film is purely because how it made me feel. Watching it brought back so many emotions that I remembered as a child. Children don’t just need humour or action in their lives, they also need lessons, love and understanding. This film made me think so much about my son that I was absolutely ready to be part of it. Like my father used to say, ‘It’s not just about doing the big and best things all the time. Life is about doing what is important and what is right.’ This is exactly how I felt."
Commenting on the film’s subject, Akshay said, "The film is about the connection that the baby elephant is unable to have with his father, and how his father sacrifices everything for his country. It’s also about the love and support a mother gives her child. I think every child should experience and witness this. Yes it’s an animated film but its message should be followed by all children. Even if only a handful of children see this film, it will make a difference in their lives. It’s a lovely family story. I too will do anything for my son.
When contacted, Shailendra Singh of PPC said, "I am very excited to be working with Akshay on Jumbo. He is indeed our Jumbo." Jumbo will release this Christmas and will be Akshay’s first release after Singh Is Kinng.

Latest Photographs of Akshay Kumar's Son Aarav

To dear Aarav, with love
Akshay Kumar booked an entire hall for a preview of Fantastic Four for son Aarav and his friends, at a multiplex
How far can a doting father go to make the day for his baby boy? Ask Akshay Kumar. On Wednesday night Akshay booked the entire PVR multiplex at Juhu for a preview of Fantastic Four for his cute beta Aarav.
Aarav loves to watch Hollywood animated and fantasy films. Akshay not only booked the entire multiplex for a preview for his son, he also invited all his schools friends to watch the film. Also invited at the preview were producers Sajid Nadiadwala, Vipul Shah and Rakesh Upadhyay with their respective families.
Akshay's family was also there which included his wife Twinkle, mother-in-law Dimple Kapadia and his sister Alka along with daughter Simran.
This simple screening for his son Aarav was pretty dramatic actually. One of the invitees present at the special screening says, "Akshay himself took care of the kids and was seen personally distributing popcorns to everyone standing at the counter.
Some of the media men who were also at the PVR for the premiere of Fantastic Four landed at the private hall on the top floor. Suddenly there was chaos. Akshay, who is known to keep his family away from the media glare, gently requested the media to not click pictures. After that Akshay left to watch the film with his son surrounded by all the kids.
When contacted Akshay Kumar said, "yes, but this was a very private affair for my family, so I do not wish to talk about it."

AARAV With Akshay Kumar & Twinkle Khanna

Akshay Kumar on Son Aarav
What are my dreams for my son?
Well, I want him to dream for himself. But if one had to put a gun to my head and ask me what it is that I want him to become, I'd say a sportsman!
But at the end of the day, it not what I want him to become, but what he wants to become. As a father, I want him to be a good human being – hard from the outside, but soft from the inside. I try to do a lot of things with him. We train for parkour together. We do adventure sports, and spend a lot of time.
I want him to believe in God, and be religious to a certain extent. I'd like Aarav to be humble, and yet ambitious, to succeed and learn through his failures, to be confident, yet modest...
